InfAdj Column is the price of gold inflation adjusted to 2010.

1yd.C. is the inflation adjusted cost of moving a yard of gravel by bucket line dredge based on 1904 cost of $0.036 per cu. yard. This is higher than the real cost circa 1958 which is $0.0873 per cu. yd. experienced by the Natomas company. Inflation adjusted to 1904 this would be $0.0271 per cu. yd.

The cost column is adjusted again in 1987 to the real cost for the Yuba company @ 0.81 per cu. yd. (in California.) After 1987 the costs are inflation-adjusted by the CPI to today.

The average income of the dredges varied between 3.11 cents in 1904 dollars, to $1.09/cu. yd. The Natomas company took in 10.19 1959-cents per cu.yd. at a cost of 9.56 1959-cents. Another company in 1904 took in 20 cents per yard for a cost of 0.036 per yard.

The cost column is the supposed real cost for that year's dollars, calculated from 1884 to 1951 from 1904 costs by inflation.

In 1987 we start with real costs and inflate the cost in each year to produce a presumed cost in that year.
