The Dems refused to Pass Cut Cap and Balance which would have secured the AAA rating with S&P. Had Reid passed a debt ceiling bill at the end of last year S&P this may not have happened, but then it would be likely they would have raised the ceiling by some incredible number that drew immediate downgrades.

Maybe it will get through their heads now that they can't spend the total GDP.
