Maybe easiest to just clone the whole drive,
plug the new one in, see if it boots.

edit...I see the post just before mine now, well,
I would add that I've used the free Western Digital
version to clone similar drives--pretty handy when
bad malware strikes. I'll have to try cloning with
different WD drives to see if it still works, for
instance a green/quiet drive cloned from a
Caviar blue of a different size. Or use Easeus.
