I must admit that I didn't understand a thing that you wrote. What the heck is SYS partition? When you image your C drive, you are making a copy of all the files...OS, application and data files. Included are the MBR.

Then if you have made a boot CD, you can boot the computer from the CD and restore the C drive from you image.

If you Clone the C drive, you can then boot from the Cloned image or install the Cloned C drive to a newly installed HDD.
