I'm not an atheist so I can't speak for them. But when there is separation of church and state, I don't see why you wouldn't get how threatened minority folks would feel. Look at you feeling all threatened, and you are a member of the hugely dominant religion in this country. Try to use your imagining tricks, the ones you use to try to understand others, and try to figure out how you'd feel if you were in the tiny minority of atheists trying to raise a kid in a hugely religious country like the US. So again- you're totally cool with Wiccans and Muslims addressing your local middle school- I mean if the school board thinks it is appropriate? Just how committed are you to this governmental mash up with religion?

Since there are a lot of liberals in the country, and there are very small numbers of atheists and agnostics, lots of liberals are religious. It's just that they don't need to foist their religion on others.
