When you hook your wagon to an invisible, uprovable star- it's always going to come down to interpretation- either yours, or some humans who wrote about your unprovable star in the first place. There are plenty of real things to argue about- arguing about how we should honor the customs attendant to invisible friends always strikes me as surreal. But there are lots of people heavily invested in their various "Harveys". I find it hard to take the Harveys seriously, though all the sturm und drang that comes with the Harveys is certainly serious. Would people be happier without religion to divide them? I've no way of knowing. People certainly like to believe in all manner of invisible powers- from Gods to fairies to ghosts and astral projection. None of it makes much sense to me.
