Outside of how sad it is that a socialist country has to tell us to be fiscally responsible, one old saying comes to mind:

"when you owe the bank $10,000, they've got you by the balls, when you owe the bank $4.4 trillion, you've got them by the balls"

Not that I would ever advocate defaulting on debt, you can assume that I would flip the bird at china when they tell me to decrease defense spending.
