>There is pain, but what they see is very significant progress in reliability. Scalability is another issue--but solutions to that problem are being implemented successfully, as well.
I don't want to dispute your observations. It is quite difficult to understand reality about NT because there is much hype created by MS and the media that one could easily think NT would be the only OS in the business world left which is up to any task. Even I feel sometimes overwhelmed by all this media hype. I have to admit that MS is doing a great marketing. Nevertheless I still have my doubts about reliability (just ask yourself if you want to depend on NT when it comes to very important and sensitive tasks?), but I guess only time will tell who is right on this one.
Scalability has been discussed here before and right now I see no solution coming from MS (Wolfpack is still not up to the task and even MS admitted sometime ago that there is stilla lot of work to be done).
>Sure...an NC puts greater demand on the network bandwidth than a fat client, as the NC is downloading more code and requiring response from ... The storage, bandwidth and means of providing reasonable response times are not in place to support NCs.....
To tell you the truth, I don't feel myself to be in a postion to judge about that argument. Never really thought about it but I'm also not a technical guy who knows enough about this side of the equation. Perhaps someone else on this thread, perhaps Addi, can counter this argument.
OFF TOPIC:
Where have you been in Germany and what have you done here? What experience did you have? (Hope you don't mind these questions) Unfortunately most Americans don't know much about Germany except for Hitler, beer, Bavaria, Sauerkraut, Oktoberfest, and Castle Neuschwanstein. I know that Germany is certainly not the center of the world but sometimes I feel a little bit sad that Americans only know the clich‚ and then judge from this basis. BTW, are you really down south? I used to live in Florida for a couple of years.
