The CBO isn't some "winger" site. But look at the spending projections. This is the baseline, it doesn't include any of the claimed "cuts" under the new deal, but the "cuts" aren't enough to keep the spending levels from going up.

Look at the spending after the "cuts" claimed in the president's budget (apparently there are some small amount of spending they don't include since the government has been spending more than the amount in the baseline but the change in the figures is the important point, notice how both the baseline, and the Obama budget figures both go up and up and up)

I am not talking about last year's budget. I am talking about his proposal to cut spending that he made to Boehner which Boehner rejected because it included letting the Bush's tax cuts to the rich to finally end:

Obama Proposes Cutting $4 Trillion From Deficit in 12 Years

And let me remind you, he made this proposal much to the unhappiness of his base and a number of economists whom don't think this is a great time to be cutting spending when we are still in economic recovery from the worst recession since WW II thanks to Bush and company.

Nonetheless, the GOP rejected his proposal.

And Tim, this was a proposal that S&P would have accepted. If the teapers had not forced Boehner to reject the proposal wholesale, there would have not been a downgrade this past Friday. The teapers and Rs are accountable. They need to take responsibility. There needs to be no more conversation on the subject. You need to get your leaders back in the game in a positive way, not negative. Its not between you and I any more. Its between you and your leaders.
