Overt racism aside, you will find more than a bit of cultural chauvinism in these parts, think of it as a form of retardation resulting from seeing the world from planet whitebread for too long, or simply a New York city state of mind. I won't act as historian here via citations, but there are postings that suggest that some frequent participants here feel threatened by "street culture", rap music, the boogeyman, etc. How much of this is bleed over of plain vanilla racism is difficult to say. Asking the subjects if they are racists is a waste of time, as if they were, you would expect them to be closet cases in this regard, and that still could be giving them too much credit for being aware of their subconscious motivations.
