now you are hitting close to home -- but maybe you knew that -- I am going on my 6th year teaching at a community college -- and it may be my last. I can say without reservation: Education has went to hell in this country. I believe this is largely a result of greater involvement of the federal government -- esp presidential ideas like W's and O's. I work extra so I can send my son elsewhere ... I love teaching ... but the pay is outrageous for the work. I look at the coursework that was required for my engineering degree and how they have f'n hollowed out the program where I went and I am very sad. There were gaps in my education ... but what are kids getting at our local universities now?? Holy cow ... it's bad.
