Tim

If we didn't already know, last week it became clear that the media, at least, had no concept of what we're up against, when several reporters threw out the idea of Apple bailing out the federal government, JP Morgan style.

This showed up shortly after reports that Apple had more cash in the bank than the federal government. That they suggested Apple's < 100B in cash was somehow enough to "bail out" the government from its 14T problem.

The truth is that most people in this country have no idea at all what a trillion dollars is. I had this discussion with my friends over dinner recently, both of whom had M.A. degrees -- and asked them if they knew how many zeros a trillion had. Neither had any idea.

It is just beyond the understanding of so many people how much money is involved.
