Al, > If I were obama I would work to put a detailed proposal on the table now...this proposal needs to contain tough medicine on the entitlement side, tax reform, and an investment strategy...he needs to essentially telegraph to this supercongress that he's looking for more than just a 2T cut or whatever the dollar figure is...this process needs to be more thoughtful...it needs to deal with debt and with america's future standing in the world... OK then why isn't Obama doing just that? Put forth a detailed proposal that forces sharp pain upon both sides? With whatever political capital he has left (compared to Congress which is pretty much at zero percent approval), he can use the S&P downgrade as leverage to push through such a proposal and rescue the credit rating of the US.
