<so much for embracing Microsofts standards and not fighting against them. >

Dell made it clear at the last quarterly earnings conference that Borland will work with Microsoft. Remember that Borland can still be viable without being a slave to Microsoft. I'd hardly call this association with CORBA as a "fight" against Microsoft's standards.

<Hopefully WallStreet won't have enough technical knowledge to figure out what they have just done.>
If they don't have enough technical knowledge, I would submit that it's the problem, not the solution.

<This is the second company this year that I have owned that was on the virge of a major breakout and then screwed up everything by announcing a takeover.>

I'd give Borland a chance to explain this. They know it better than you or I do. If you were looking to sell your shares, it would be helpful if you'd separate that desire from an opinion that Borland somehow "screwed up everything". Actually, this acquisition makes more sense to me than the OEC deal, but I'd rather wait for Borland to explain their reasoning.

I hope this hasn't caused a problem with your investment goals, in any case. Keep the faith (although I can tell from your note that your faith has been shaken).

Regards,
Dave
