Barack should learn how to stand up for himself and fight. He needs to leave his African-American race at the door step and go up against a white man as only a white man would. No more professorial discourses on race relations in America. Remember Dukakis' convoluted thought process when CNN's Bernie Shaw asked him how he would fight street crime where if someone were to come and tell him that his wife was raped. Obama reminds me of that approach. I don't want Obama to be Rambo-esque like Bush was. But he should also not be a weenie.

Two weeks ago, Obama was in a snit. Boehner refused to return his phone calls. That's not done. You don't blow off the POTUS. Boehner did. Obama went on national tv and made very clear how angry he was. Next day, the headlines read.......Obama blows his cool; Obama throws temper tantrum; Obama can't keep his anger under control. I watched him......he wasn't having a temper tantrum. He hardly showed much anger at all. Its been posted before on this thread.......black men can not show their anger. That's fact.

To my mind, there is an extraordinary naiveté on this thread. Posters expect Obama to somehow out think, out maneuver, out class the wingers every step of the way. Its not humanly possible. I think posters here expect too much. RW used to be a regular on the FAMD thread. Pretty much refuses to post there now. Why? Because the winger posters on FAMD are radicalized ideologues. And that's what Obama is dealing with in DC. Posters on SI can't deal with the wingers but everyone wants Obama to do a KO against his R opponents? How do you do that in a democracy? He's dealing with people who are not above lying and who are backed with huge sums of money.

This is comments Cantor made today AFTER the downgrade:

Over the next several months, there will be tremendous pressure on Congress to prove that S&P’s analysis of the inability of the political parties to bridge our differences is wrong,” Cantor wrote Monday in a memo to House Republicans. “In short, there will be pressure to compromise on tax increases. We will be told that there is no other way forward. I respectfully disagree.”

Cantor is the Majority Leader in the House. He is one of the key leaders for the Rs. Does he sound like a reasonable person? Do you honestly think you can sit down with this guy and work something out? With these Rs, its not business as usual. They are kamikaze pols.......very ideological; very driven; very scary. They remind me of some of the worst political characters in history.

Some how....some way Obama has to find a way to deal with them. Fighting them head on won't work. He can't power them into position because he doesn't have the authority to do so. What I think he's doing is 'outing' them.....letting America see who they are with their masks down. It seems to be working. We'll know better tonite in WI.
