The grand experiment that's failing is setting up a huge and every expanding government and having people get dependent on it. The reality that people are facing is tough, and some people don't want to deal with it, or they just use other people's anger at the political situation to provide some cover for their own greed (looting) or random rage (rioting and violence).

What you don't understand is that when gov'ts cut back, its the people at the bottom of the food chain who suffer the worst. They are the first to lose jobs. They are the first to get into financial trouble. Conservatives don't care about these people. Eventually, they get the message and then they rise up.

Under PM Cameron........the police force throughout the UK has been cut back dramatically. Now they are short police. So as the rioting spread in London, they called in cops from the rest of the UK. Now those cities that sent police to London are starting to have riots.

The people are rising up. That's how revolutions start.

Cameron is not a clever numbers cruncher........he's an insensitive asshole. And I suspect his party will get booted out the next election.

Another experiment that's failing is not dealing forcefully with violent criminals. If your soft on policing and riot control the riots continue. Not that going to far the other way is good either, police abuse is wrong and can be unproductive even counterproductive, but an effort needs to be made to impose some order.

When people have nothing to lose.......when things get so desperate and they have no hope, they rise up. Its been noted throughout history. We are seeing it in the ME......the Arab Spring; we are saw in Europe; we saw in China with the Jasmine Revolution and we've seen in the US. I saw it in LA. You don't fukk with the people.

A third experiment that's failing is the idea that trying to keep people from protecting themselves will make things more secure and peaceful.

Tim, you're out of touch.
