The (R)'s represent the GREED of the wealthy, and have a healthy cohort of useful idiots to vote for it. They manage the useful idiots by shrilly screaming "We're not going to let them raise YOUR taxes!", while knowing full well that only the 1% of their supporters that pay for them are the ONLY one's that would be affected.

I always hope that their chumps will wake up, realize they've been conned to vote against America and their OWN economic self-interest year after year. But, they seem as terminally stupid as lemmings, many voting for some crap social issue, or Jeebus, or guns, or whatever other fringe group the (R)'s can throw a bone to for power.
