My MD in Geraldton, Ontario diagnosed a case of Lyme disease in 1988.

"In Ontario, populations [.. of black legged ticks that may carry Borrelia burgdorferi ] can be found in Long Point; Point Pelee National Park; Rondeau Provincial Park; Turkey Point; Prince Edward Point National Wildlife Area and St. Lawrence Islands National Park in the Thousand Islands region of eastern Ontario."

"Infection rates in adults are more often between 10 and 25 percent" ... (to 60% at Long Point)

Most of MD stats are BS. There are no reliable studies to show the true range of black legged ticks, the number that are infected, or the other species of ticks that may be infected. In fact in the US, where more work has been done, a number of dog and mouse ticks have been found to be infected and capable of becoming vectors.

I completely denigrate the CDN medical establishment and their approach to diagnosis of this disease. I believe they are severely underdiagnosing chronic cases.
