There is no austerity (in most countries, including the UK, and the US). Governments are spending money like crazy, they are not austere.

WTH are you talking about? Gov't employment in the US has been dropping for two years. Why do think that is? I bet it is much worse in the UK. They didn't have enough police to handle the rioters in London and had to call in cops from the rest of the UK.

When there is gov't cutback in services, its the poor who suffer the worst.

As for governments not "picking up the slack", most of what they do is irrelevant to this case, and some of it contributes to the problem. Bigger government will likely breed more dependency, but not more peace.

I guess having debacles like the real estate and wall street messes of 2008 isn't lesson enough for you conservatives. Well, I guess we will have to wait until your generation dies off. The ridiculous position that wingers take that gov'ts don't do squat is just another one from their long list of myths.......just like trickle down and supply side.

People are fed up with the BS. It no longer sells. Its unfortunate it ever did........if it hadn't, the US would not be in the mess its in.
