One thing to note from this chart is that pre-world war 2 big % correctios (1901, 1906, 1919, 1929, 1909, 1937) lasted for more number of days. The time to find bottom has been trending down over years. It makes sense considering incresed computerized trading and faster information flows. High-Freq trading must be forcing us to find bottom sooner as well.

Looks like 2000 was the only one which took much longer to find bottom (but could have been elongated due to 9/11 shock while still in the process of finding bottom.

Market falls would be quicker and quicker from now on... (IMHO)
