Scott Baker, Gio Gonzalez, Doug Fister, C.J. Wilson, Freddy Garcia, and Jon Lester drop from the conversation.
The punchless Mariners faced five guys from last week's contender list in 6 games, losing to Weaver, Santana, Harrison, and the Rangers in an Ogando start while beating only Gio Gonzalez (no wonder Gio's off the list, eh?).
Jered Weaver's ERA is nearing Sandy Koufax' best even without an elevated mound … great to see MLB cracking down on the 'roid-popping in the decade after 1994 that had overinflated hitting numbers against great pitching, one big reason I think we've seen such great pitching numbers more recently.
