They are not needed for a starter, because with patience the rules of statistics will make sure that eventually the first chimp hammers out all of that as well. Yes, there indeed is a finite probability for all of that happening. That very same finite probability, which explains how the basic building blocks of life eventually found together in the right sequence to let man walk on Earth without any help of a creator super chimp.
