Even before the police started that website, thousands of people were going on line and submitting photographs of observed rioters. The police were actually kind of slow and only followed up what was being done spontaneously by the population.

The streets of most UK cities are already thick with security cameras, add to the fact that everyone has a mobile phone with a camera, and that mobiles of suspected rioters can be tracked, data logged time and place, it has been a prosecutions wet dream.

Anyone with half a brain would have known that if they thought about it for a moment.
