Who do you think helped Intel develop and debug the 440
chipset? How about Klamath and Deschutes... how about
BX and NX? If you think Dell just sits and waits for
Intel to deliver, your wrong big time. Dell is one of
the leaders in driving functionality, specs and compliance.
Only a small percentage of Dell's designs use mature components,
therfore, they are always developing new systems in locksetp
with Intel's engineering sample dates. This means designing
a system before A0 silicon arrives. No easy task my friend.
This requires Dell to be a leader in simulation and Design
Synthesis. Guess who's simulation department has a major
impact on Intel's RDDP (Recommended Design and Debug Practices)
and Layout guidelines? Guess who becomes the benificiary of
this info besides Dell? Compaq, Gateway, HP, IBM etc...
albiet after Dell.

Dell's technological contributions to the industry as well
as their engineering greatness go entirely unnoticed by
the non-technical.

You know nothing.
