Evil communists taking over property of other people. Working is too much like hard work for communists, anarchists and bludgers in general.

Now people live in fear of squatters raiding their property and destroying it. That is the mentality of the rioters - the property of other people should be taken over. Politicians do it - draining the public purse into their own.

When the rot is at the top, it's not too surprising that criminals at the bottom join in. That's how riots work. VVV have to start at the top and trickle down. Unfortunately, your conception of property rights was what led to the destruction. You take what you want to "create value". There is room for plenty more destruction. Things can get worse and worse until nearly everyone is dead.

<A guy stood right at the top and knocked out a brick under his feet with the sledge hammer. He did that brick by brick until the steeple was the same level as the main building. It gave me vertigo just to watch that, and I don't normally suffer from vertigo, >

That's how I removed a couple of chimneys. The one in Lower Hutt had mortar which was powdery. I could just tap a brick with a hammer and it would be loose. The chimney wobbled from side to side a few centimetres as I stood on it, dropping the bricks down the inside to the living room.

An earthquake in Wellington will get rid of all those old buildings, resource consent or not. It will also kill a lot of people. It's ridiculous how governments these days blather on about safety yet hordes [not hoards] of people live in Wellington [earthquake], Taupo and Rotorua [volcano] and all along the east coast at sea level [tsunami as demonstrated in Japan].
