walter was a captain of a sub chaser in the coast guard... during ww2 he patrolled the carolina coasts.. as far north as nova scotia... as far south as florida the boats were made of wooden hulls to escape radar.. narrow and fast and nasty to be in for long periods at sea he says proudly... he messed up the lives of many a u-boat and those of a few whales... anyway after the nazis and the north atlantic seas... conservatives were a piece of cake
