The Bakken rig count is forecasted to be 225. This figure includes 194 now working and 31 rigs under contract for delivery. The forecast for production from 200 rigs operational is 1 million BOD, accepting the variable mean time to productivity that is beyond the drilling.. We are sitting at 600,000 with hundreds of wells on the confidential lists and hundreds more awaiting completion.

225 operational rigs and still; the drilling job for leased acreage has a calander to completion that ranges between 10 and 18 years.

The Montana side of the continuous Williston Basin is just now opening up.....

meanwhile the Colorado basin further south is still being worked by Landmen. Folks have no clue how large this basin is, we think its larger than the Bakken. The source and origin of this formation is not easily determined, but the view held here, is that the primary source remnants are hidden deep in what is known as the Ogallalla Aquifer. An area that is essentially off limits to observation of the terrestrial sort.

If this is true, than many more surprises remain to be discovered.
