Maybe that is why we hold the trump card of who will be Vice President until 2012. Republicans knew that the choice for President was between Reagan and George bush. Reagan won the party state conventions due to the massive support amongst Republicans and independents and first time voters who were a part of the convention process. George Bush, with his CIA Credentials was waiting in the wings, and became the VP candidate----------what a stroke of genius for the Republican Party. Reagan got what he and his supporters wanted and George Bush and his supporters got what they wanted.
