Health care was a pretty big rock, however wimpy the final bill turned out. Probably cost too much politically, though. I think the intractability of the economy, combined with the intractability of Republicans in Congress, doesn't leave Obama much to work with.

I'm disappointed with Obama too, but I voted for John Anderson in 1980. Big mistake. Ever since I've resigned myself to membership in Will Rogers' "no organized political party", and vote party line. Some day there might again be some Republican somewhere that merits closer examination. With all the doctrinaire enforcement in place on that side of the aisle, I don't see that happening any time soon.
