This bit of tea leaf reading from zero hedge I think has it exactly right. Look for the Fed to open up swap lines to euro banks over the weekend.

The paltry and unnecessary line to the SNB was the opening shot, the shot across the bow. It was a total and complete mystery to me....now it makes sense. The Fed is rescuing Euro banks in order to preclude contagion here, but perhaps more important, to preclude a bunch of CDS from getting triggered.

Look for an announcement Sunday night, before Asian markets open.

More important, what effect will the opening of swap lines to Euroland do to gold? I have no idea, but I doubt anything good.

I may take some profits tomorrow.
