Zeta, if the President has to go and stand in the picket lines, then it is an insult to the Presidency. It is a tacit admission that the Presidency is not powerful enough to get things done. Obama has sympathized with those folks. Besides, Michelle is probably smarter than Barack. She knows that is not for a President to stand in picket lines.

Richard Trumka was on TV and I heard him remark that labor is happy with Obama's support in Wisconsin. His 3 day midwest tour is something like him standing in the picket lines but is more Presidential. In this video, watch the growing backlash against Congress, particularly the Teaper congress folks: youtube.com

Obama has his way of getting things done. His ways are something which this country has never experienced. He is not the type who will take cheap shots to say "We will smoke out the terrorists from their foxholes" and then have nothing to show. He is not the type who will prematurely say "Mission Accomplished" and still have troops fighting 5 years after the claim. Instead, he is the type who will kill Osama, tell the nation about it in a 10 minute broadcast and move on. As someone said "America needs to be deserving of Obama before desiring one." The significance of this to me is that before we get disappointed with him because he failed "to meet our desires", we need to ask ourselves if we deserve him and if we think we do then we need to ponder if we have what it takes to understand him in its totality and not merely instance by instance such as not standing in the picket lines in WI.
