I am still learning about Perry. Perry in his move to the Republican Party is somewhat similar to Reagan in that Reagan who was once a democrat became a Republican saying something to the effect--------"I did not leave the Democrat Party, the Democrat Party left me."

Perhaps some one can comment on why Reagan moved to the Republican Party. As I recall it was because of the Union Control and communist bent of Hollywood.

Of course, Obama came from the extreme left of the Democrat Party which had already began moving left as early as Clinton becoming the President------------the Democrat Party has become the party of the left.

And, yes party platforms are extremely important-----a party's platform has long term enduring principles that distinguishes a party from another.

Also, a party's platform is refined via the Convention process and becomes is a reflection of the voters and what they want for the nation and their party in the Presidential election and for the next 4 years and beyond---------in other words, current issues as they impact the present and the future with solid solutions.
