The Republicans have been emboldened by the bashing of Obama by the political extremists of the left and the right wing.

I think this will backfire. Obama is a president much liked by his people. The more they attack him the less effective it becomes.

I was at a Silicon valley gathering of middle and senior level management of several high tech companies. A senior EVP remarked that something like "Obama is an African American. We are not sure what the backlash will be on him if some folks see a African American fighting the white members of the Tea Party. People are used to seeing the White folks bashing a Black man. As long as he continues to excel and portray his intelligence and his ability to be cool under fire, the White folks who voted for him including those Republicans will come out and vote for him to clean up the mess that Bush left for him and which he created with 8 years in office." Such folks manage billions of dollars, make good bucks and do not have the time to go and run blogs. They are extremely thoughtful, very apolitical and form their based on what they see and observe. A hallmark of theirs which takes them places on the corporate ladder. They are not the "political bull dogs" that have infested our political theater for the past decade. Thought I would share this completely different perspective with you.

I continue to agree. Unfortunately for Obama, the mess has proven to be much more serious than once thought.........the nadir of the recession much deeper than first believed. Its been a huge and daunting struggle. Nonetheless, I think the country is getting better albeit slowly. I base that on the statistics I review and not on conjecture.
