That is exactly what is going to happen. The futures market of course can settle in cash rather than provide the physical and say that isn't a COMEX default for example. Backwardation is going to create FEAR BIG TIME that maybe all the paper Gold isn't really backed by anything after all, just like fiat currency! They sold Chavez's gold eons ago or leased it out and the leasers sold it all. Chavez basically gave the banks a margin call...hilarious! They don't have his gold! Oops. Caught with pants down.
