The North Koreans, and later, the North Vietnamese discovered that the most effective form of torture was social isolation. Not allowing a prisoner to talk to anyone was the quickest way to reduce him to complete submission. This works for controlling small children's behavior also. When a child is not obeying the social rules, you simply remove him from the group. If this is done consistently and emmediately, it is very effective at changing anti-social behavior.
The same methods can be applied to any group, including SI threads.
I keep a (very) short list of names of rude posters. I read all posts on the threads of stocks I own or am considering buying, except theirs. I skip over their posts, and I never reply, no matter what they post.
You must understand that, for some people, getting a response, even an angry response, is exactly what they want. |
