Joefromspringfield, I don't really care. The across the board cuts if they don't do it are OK by me. Some of the new representatives who are there because of the tea party feel like I do. They are going to do what the think is right and if that cause them not to be reelected so be it. The people I am talking about are not career politicians. They have no more allegiance to the Republican party than I do.

The unintended consequences of the parties not coming to an agreement is what is my major concern. I was told by one of the Colonel's in the our National Guard that such a cut would result in the shutting down of some of our NG bases in our State. Therefore, I am sure that this draw down would happen across the board within the US and outside the US if Panetta's statements are correct. Probably some additional weapon systems would be cut in the process as well as the VA for returning servicemen. The question is whether this would weaken our ability to fight even one War, if necessary. I have empathy for those soldiers coming back from the Far East, the injuries (mentally, physically and emotionally) they may have suffered from fighting for the US and possibly not having jobs.

Then, on the discretionary side I wonder what those who are disabled and those who are legally poor, will do to survive.

I recently, asked our local sheriff if there is an increase in crime during economic downturns. He reply was yes!

Guess, I have at times seen the worse side of humans when their livelihood is threatened. My hope is that our Congressman have the senses to reach agreement, and the Congress passes their agreement.
