How could a politician be so stupid in rejection of $2.4 billion of federal money to his state. Just think how the money could produce additional jobs for his constituents. Maybe the voters will get rid of him next election.

Truly damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

We see Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry criticized for taking federal funds and now Rick Scott is criticized for not taking them.

As others have pointed out, there's no such thing as No Strings Attached money from the government. So maybe he weighed the pros and cons and came up with "we can do just fine on our own".

and maybe he has principles about where to draw the line between state and federal responsibilities.
