They're ALL righteous if the outcome is to defeat the aggressor, provided the aggressor was in the wrong. One can argue that the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor wasn't righteous, but only a fool would argue that firebombing Tokyo followed by the use of the Bomb on Japan wasn't righteous.

Dropping the bomb on Japan may have been necessary or warranted because of war fatigue in the US....but righteous? Killing hundreds of thousands of mostly innocent people? I don't think so.

As your own link indicates, over ten years we've spent < 800B, and it is difficult to see how we spend another $200B before we get out, although it could happen. Of course, a rational analysis would have to offset the savings we have achieved there, but that's not a worthwhile exercise.

I have to agree.........I overstated the case. Losing another $200 billion is not likely but we have spent way too much money for too little reward.

And you don't think the Libyans have suffered??? They fought the good fight.........with pickup trucks and rifles. The Iraqis have yet to get to that point.

You don't know what you're talking about. In terms of the sheer effort and difficulty and commitment the Iraqis have put 100x as much into their freedom as have the Libyans.

Oh crap..........you forget how al Qaida would round up Iraqi recruits, only to have the recruits ask how far they should bend over. I have never seen a people quite so helpless. For years, thousands of men were abducted and executed. There is no comparison to the Libyans who were ready and able to fight for their freedom. Iraq is still in chaos.........8 years later.
