This is ridiculous. Ordering US Marines to fart silently has to be the stupidest thing I ever heard. I read somewhere the average person passes gas about 13-14 times a day. Doing this silently could become an obsession, but methinks many Marines will ignore it, even laugh about it. I am laughing about it.

Some of the things we never think twice about at home become the most difficult in a gunfight. Try to figure out how to have a silent fart or bowel movement when you are flat on the ground, under gunfire, and the buttons on your shirt feel like stilts…especially when you had ham and limas for breakfast.

It gets funnier. I just checked my list of MREs in my emergency stash. 7 of the 2010 military MRE menus contain beans or a meat substitute made from beans.

Flatulence in combat, where there is very little or no entertainment, sometimes becomes both a humorous art and a sport form. That just got taken to a higher level.
