I think we all need to look at factual and concrete information of the last 30 days. Qntm reported .71 earnings, beating the concensus of .60 cents.

Oct. 17, 1997, Quantum Corp. (QNTM) announced that earnings per share for the second quarter of
fiscal 1998 will be "above the First Call consensus of $0.60." QNTM noted that analysts' estimates for
the quarter range from $0.56 to $0.63 per share.

QNTM indicated that weakness in the high-end portion of the hard disk drive market was offset by
strength in the company's DLT tape drive and desktop hard disk drive businesses.

Again, I am not writing this to encourage anyone to buy or hold shares. I am printing it to remind me of the facts and fundamentals that lead me to invest in Qntm. We all know that projections and fundamentals can change. Qntm is a diversified co. with significant sales and profit moementum. This can definitely change if fundamentals change. The deployment of broadband modems beginning in 97 will put a great demand in 98 and after on cos. to increase storage and DD capacity. To satisfy the multiplitcation of voice, data and video, HDs and other storage devices will have to multiply their capacity. The storage demands on servers will be multiplied. All of these demands are concrete and already visible. This should complement Qntm's already significant sales and profit momentum and even produce acceleration in sales and profits for 98 and 99. IMO.
