My view is that the housing market is fundamentally unstable at current levels. Trying to sustain those levels is just the same thing this administration has been doing for the whole economy. Keep supporting the status quo until the economy just happens to improve.

Regardless, my point was that Buffett is investing $5 billion in BoA at the same time the White House announced plans to help refi mortgages. The stated goal is to help homeowners and reduce foreclosures, which I'm sure it'll do, but I can't help think that BoA is now the next "too big to fail" beneficiary of government assistance.

For those who play ball with the government, the payoffs can be enormous, and I'm pretty sure Buffett knows this. All while he laments that he isn't "taxed enough."
