Regardless, my point was that Buffett is investing $5 billion in BoA at the same time the White House announced plans to help refi mortgages. The stated goal is to help homeowners and reduce foreclosures, which I'm sure it'll do, but I can't help think that BoA is now the next "too big to fail" beneficiary of government assistance. So you are suggesting that this is a just a ploy to help warrenn buffett because he's a useful public figure? ....man, we are reaching new levels of cynicism here...Is it not equally probable that buffett is investing in BoA because it's been beat up beyond reason, he thinks it's a bargain and he's guessing that the fed may finally do this plan they've been talking about forever and a day which MAY indirectly help BoA (although how precisely is not clear, since the banks will be collecting smaller interest payments on their affected mortgages in exchange for a lower risk of defaults).... Al
