Packaging biz: Reviewing some stocks in that sector (several are on new lows list), I get
PKG: I'll pass, at least for now.
GEF: Seems too expensive to me for me to reenter now. (A Phil Carret favorite, I eventually followed him in amazon.com
RKT: I'll consider. Numbers --- p/bk, roe, etc. -- are okay by me, just that they've been good for past four years or so, and before that they were much less attractive. Something happened, don't know what. (D/e has come down. .... I'll pass.
UFPT: I'll take my losses and amscray. A substantial contract ended, revenues will be down in this half year because of that. I can envision the stock falling further as quarterly reports are issued.
SEE: I'll start buying (in this am @ $17.80), with intent to accumulate more if/as stock falls on no adverse news. SEE: Not so good roe (10-11%). Fits in my value style box though. Profitable nine of past ten years. Low relative p/e now. (stock at 12 mo low today) Ltd has been reduced. 4* rating by S&P (fwiw). 3% dividend yield. Ex-div 8/31. Three insiders have made significant (significant by my standards) purchases this month: finance.yahoo.com Warren Buffett was involved with this company in past. It was either he or his surrogate who bought the common, or he/they bought Sealed Air's bond or preferred. Not sure which. Yahoo shows several "value types" might be in the stock: Davis Select/Barrow Hanley/Longleaf/ Deprince. Greenblatt and Robert Olstein were reported in this stock in June. As I understand some of Sealed Air's business (and I'm not at all sure my understanding is correct), the company sells packaging equipment that allows customers like grocery stores to plastic wrap things like food. These customers then reorder the plastic wrap which SEE's machines use (require?). Sort of like razor-and-blade business (??) Anyway, at this point, there's enough that I like about the numbers, yield, insiders that the stock's a buy for me.
OI/BLL: I need to review these again.
All jmo, I'm no expert in the sector, and I've been wrong many, many times. |
