Mark Mansfield - Are you Joel Gander in disguise? Please tell us why you think Compaq is headed to 'oblivion' and exactly what price level 'oblivion' is... Joel had a series of posts earlier that stated he thinks Compaq is going to 38/share, which puts us at 19 post split (even Kmart is selling around 13, Joel must shop there and mind-associate Kmart with Compaq in some manner). We asked Joel for some facts to back his thinking, none have been forthcoming. I respect your wanting to short, but at Joel's price point CPQ would have been selling at a PE of around 12. Do you think management is all wet when they say 50B in sales in a few years, or are you basing your short strictly on market factors in general? Sure if the market tanks Compaq will not be immune, but look at the long term here....

John
