8/26/11 Contest Update
Although Hurricane Ben didn’t blow very hard, stocks still got a lift. We’ll soon see how Wall Street weathers a much less predictable category of hurricane: The wind they call Irene.
At Friday’s close, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was down -1.23% YTD (vs. down - 5.20% YTD a week ago) and the Contest median was down -6.28% YTD (vs. down -9.28% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was down -6.52% YTD (vs. down -11.72% YTD a week ago).
The Contest top three ranking was unchanged: GENE’s portfolio (up 44.80 % YTD), JIBAC’s portfolio (up 35.24%YTD) and MCBIO’s portfolio (up 32.16% YTD).
At Friday's close, 13 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the black, while the same 13 of the 38 were beating the NBI.
