When Murdoch had his run in with the BBC, I wonder if he really knew what he was getting entangled with?

The BBC, for any free market type media moguls looking in, is like the neutron star remnant left after the British Empire went Supernova during the 20th century. There are forces involved that can tear business empires apart, unless you really know what you are doing. Dumbing down the population would not be a smart move .... imho. -g-

Climate skeptics need to watch this stuff. The horror of state sponsored propaganda to the nth power, which... believe or not, will be good for you. Like as if I give a chit anyway.

I do think the BBC vs Murdoch thing does prove an old business principle though... healthy competition is good for everyone. My previous post also shows other stuff worth watching.

Just watching bits of the series on TV at the moment. I doubt if I'll actually have time to watch all of it for a month ot two, but you can down load or watch first episode and more at link above, or manybe with other searches.

Let me know if you can see it in your part of the world.

I have no idea what kind of chit is on my PC these days, it seems to be working just fine, I fuk with things so much I just hope there isnt anything bad on it. I do go for regular checkups by reading the computer learning thread -g-

Now the BBC is playing nice. Mark Thompson, BBC Director-General, has some sage advice for James Murdoch. Lets hope the young lad is able to let bygones be bygones and listen to his more knowledgeable elders when he needs to. <gggg>

Mr Thompson, writing in The Guardian, was critical of the MacTaggart delivered by Mr Murdoch two years ago in which he had said "the only reliable, durable and perpetual guarantor of independence is profit".

But the director-general said today that subsequent events in the fallout from the phone-hacking scandal had given the words "an almost tragic irony".
