History will show Obama made a fundamental error right out of the gate in not tackling the depression. I disagree. He did tackle and at least has managed to avert so far, a depression, in the strict economic meaning of that word. Interestingly the GOP seems to consider the lack of a depression, an economic outcome that was earned and should have occurred as a result of the disastrous administration of Shrub Bush, as an unchecked box. They continue to do their level best to get us there.
