I don't agree. And I think the 2008 Lacey Act amendments (it was only the 2008 amendments which addressed illegal logging abroad) are an example of a law that can ensnare anyone regardless of how hard they try to keep themselves legal.

We should bear in mind, Gibson hasn't even been charged, much less found guilty yet.

BTW I think we should ask ourselves a reasonableness question. Do Gibson guitar fingerboards really represent a serious threat to tropical rain forests in Madagascar. I think there just aren't enough guitars in the world. BTW I've read that China imports about 95% of tropical ebony and rosewood and they have no Lacey Act to worry about.
