chirodoc, cleaning up the mail box and came across this Oct 23, post. Guess you have realized by now that I live in Japan. Actually in Okinawa, the southernmost prefecture. We are a bit shielded from the mainland's problems in the sense that the only "Japanese" bank here is Kaihoginko. The rest is left to the Bank of the Ryukyus and Okinawa Bank. Economics are a little different here as we are enjoying the third ten-year plan to try to recover the ecomomy from 30 years of neglect when the American military controlled the region.
