Ed, has given the answer, more or less, I would have given except I would add:

That those are the kind of views that have led to the rise of the "isms" in the past. I know you just want to do your thing and be creative and make the business "sing", but without something in between capital and labor it just leads to an unequal society that eventually leads to instability and social unrest.

You only get to play on this nice capitalist playing field because it is held together by a balancing of social forces--so you've got to pay to play--the money goes to those who are creating the field and providing the refs--our legislative democracy--which says labor has a right to organize.
